Melasma Treatment In Delhi

WHAT IS MELASMA?

Melanin production is what determines the color of your skin. The overproduction of melanin in your skin can occur for a variety of reasons, resulting in hyperpigmentation. It can take the form of freckles or other darkened skin patches. Melasma is a type of hyperpigmentation that is particularly common in women. Melasma is a skin condition that affects women of all races, but it is more common in women with darker skin tones.

“Hyperpigmentation” refers to an excess of melanin in the skin that can result in the formation of black spots (dark spots). Freckles, liver spots, age spots, Melasma, sun spots (solar lentigenes), under-eye dark circles, pregnancy mask, and other forms of increased skin pigmentation are just a few examples. There are a variety of treatments available to lighten or remove darker skin.

CAUSES OF MELASMA

It causes blotchy, dark, symmetrical patches on your skin, which can be seen on the cheeks, nose bridge, upper lips, and other areas. It can also appear on the arms and other sun-exposed areas for some women. Long-term sun exposure, oral contraceptive pill use, stress, and thyroid disorders are all known causes of melasma. When it appears on pregnant women, it is also known as the “pregnancy mask.” It does not cause itchiness or soreness in the affected area, so there are no known symptoms. Its pigmentation is easily identifiable, and its distribution on the face can be used to diagnose it.

Melasma treatment on the face begins with a diagnosis, which is usually straightforward. Melasma can be caused by a variety of factors, including Lichen Planus, inflammation, and Guttate Hypomelanosis.

Melasma on the face may be treated with a biopsy in some cases. The best treatment for Melasma includes some of the following precautions, depending on the exact cause of Melasma:-

  • Stop taking any medications that could be disrupting your hormones.
  • Protect your face from the sun by wearing a hat. Regardless of the weather, always wear sunscreen, and the sunscreen should have a broad spectrum.
  • For your face, avoid harsh cleansers.
  • One thing to keep in mind is that the best treatment for Melasma on the face will only be completely effective if proper skin care is practised on a regular basis.
  • In India, most dermatologists begin Melasma treatment with a topical therapy. The goal of treating Melasma on the face is to prevent melanocytes from producing new pigments. Hydroquinone is the most common treatment for Melasma on the face.

For cases of hyperpigmentation, there are a variety of treatment options. The most effective treatment for hyperpigmentation varies from case to case. Some of them, which can be used singly or in combination, are as follows:-

  • Perfumed cosmetics or oral contraceptive pills which are known to act as triggers should be avoided.
  • Skin-lightening agents
  • Methods to avoid sun exposure and optimum use of sunscreens and sun blocks.
  • Dermabrasion, Chemical peels and Laser treatment.
  • Cosmetic camouflage

The best treatment for hyperpigmentation will be determined by the exact cause of the dark pigmentation on the face. People with dark skin are more likely to have difficult-to-treat dark pigmentation on their faces. People with this condition are frequently faced with the question of how to treat hyperpigmentation. Only a dermatologist can determine the best treatment method for hyperpigmentation.

Micro-Dermabrasion, Chemical Peels, Laser Treatment:-

Chemical peels can help to improve skin pigmentation by removing pigment-bearing epidermis cells. Hyperpigmentation can also be treated with a TCA peel or a deeper phenol peel. These procedures should only be performed by well-known and experienced plastic surgeons, as they have the potential to worsen pigmentation, make the skin too light, or cause scarring.

Some lasers remove the outer layer of skin as well, while others target the pigment-producing cells only.

IPL Photo facial – The treatment of hyperpigmentation with intense pulsed light, also known as a Photo facial, is most commonly recommended by doctors. Incorrectly applied IPL treatment, on the other hand, can exacerbate hyperpigmentation. For the vast majority of Melasma sufferers, we believe that IPL (and, for that matter, Fraxel) treatments are the worst option.

When skin pigmentation is treated with Q-switched laser technology, the best results are achieved.
