Rejuran Treatment in Delhi
Rejuran arrived in India with a nickname — ‘the baby skin injection’ — and a promise that sounded too neat: skin that repairs itself. The nickname is marketing. The promise, unusually for aesthetics, is closer to the truth than most. Rejuran is not a filler and it is not really a moisturiser. It is a regenerative treatment: purified DNA fragments injected into the dermis, where they act as biological signals telling your skin’s repair machinery to switch on.
What Rejuran does not have is a good explanation anywhere on the Delhi internet. Most clinic pages call it a polynucleotide treatment, which is not quite right. Most describe its downtime as minimal, which is not honest. Almost none tell you there are four different Rejuran products, or which one you are being sold. And none mention the thing a great many patients here would want to know first: that it is made from salmon DNA.

The short answer :Rejuran is a South Korean injectable made by PharmaResearch, containing c-PDRN — purified polydeoxyribonucleotide fragments extracted from salmon sperm DNA. It is not a filler and adds no volume. Injected into the dermis, PDRN activates the adenosine A2A receptor, which drives fibroblast proliferation, dampens inflammation and supports collagen synthesis. It is the strongest injectable option for skin texture, fine lines, early acne scarring and damaged or over-treated skin. There are four variants: Healer (general rejuvenation, 20mg/2mL), Rejuran I (under-eyes, lower viscosity), Rejuran S (scars, higher viscosity) and Rejuran HB (with added hyaluronic acid). Standard course is 3–4 sessions, 3–4 weeks apart, with results appearing from week four to eight. Be aware: it is more uncomfortable than HA boosters and leaves visible bumps for 24–48 hours. Delhi cost is roughly Rs 25,000–50,000 per session. It is fish-derived — a firm contraindication in fish or shellfish allergy, and material information for vegetarian and Jain patients.
PDRN vs Polynucleotides (PN): The Distinction Nobody Makes
Search for Rejuran in Delhi and you will read, on almost every page, that it is a ‘polynucleotide’ treatment. This is loosely true and technically imprecise, and the imprecision hides the interesting part.
Both PN and PDRN come from the same raw material — purified fish DNA. The difference is fragment length, and fragment length determines mechanism.

These are variations on the same biological theme rather than fundamentally different substances, and the practical clinical difference is smaller than the marketing on either side suggests. But if a clinic tells you Rejuran and Plinest are the same thing, they are not — different fragment length, different dominant mechanism, and, incidentally, different fish.
How Rejuran Actually Works ?
Most skin treatments work by controlled injury: you damage the skin in a measured way and the healing response rebuilds it better. Lasers do this. Microneedling does this. Rejuran works differently — it does not injure the skin, it instructs it.
The PDRN fragments act along two routes:
- Adenosine A2A receptor activation. PDRN fragments bind to a receptor on the surface of fibroblasts — the cells that manufacture collagen. Activating it is associated in the published literature with increased fibroblast proliferation, reduced inflammatory cytokine production, and improved blood vessel formation. In laboratory studies on human skin fibroblasts, PDRN increased cell growth, and that increase disappeared when the A2A receptor was blocked. That experiment is the basis for the receptor claim.
- The nucleotide salvage pathway. As the PDRN breaks down, it releases nucleosides and nucleotides — the raw building blocks of DNA. Nearby cells reincorporate these directly rather than synthesising them from scratch, which spares them considerable metabolic energy. In effect, the treatment supplies both the instruction and some of the materials.
An honest note on what the evidence shows
These are described mechanisms supported by laboratory and clinical studies, not guarantees of a cosmetic outcome. The clinical literature on PDRN is reasonably substantial — considerably more so than for many injectables sold in Delhi — but it is not the same as a large randomised trial demonstrating a specific aesthetic result in Indian skin. Rejuran works, in our experience and in the published data, for texture and skin quality. It is not magic, and any clinic describing it as a cure for acne scarring or a substitute for surgery is overselling a genuinely good product.
The Four Rejuran Variants (And Which One You Are Being Sold)
This is the single most useful section on this page. Delhi clinics advertise ‘Rejuran’. There are four distinct products under that name, with different concentrations, viscosities and indications. Ask which one you are receiving, and why.

Rejuran Is Made from Salmon DNA. Here Is What That Means.
The polynucleotide and PDRN fragments in Rejuran are extracted from salmon sperm DNA and then purified to pharmaceutical grade. Salmon is used because its DNA has a high degree of structural similarity to human DNA, which is what makes it biocompatible rather than provoking an immune reaction. Protein content is reduced to negligible levels precisely to minimise allergic response, and the finished product is a highly purified, standardised medical device — a long way from raw fish extract.
All of that is true. And it remains an animal-derived, fish-based injectable, which is information a patient in Delhi is entitled to have before treatment rather than after.
Who this matters to, and what we do about it ?
FISH OR SHELLFISH ALLERGY: this is a firm contraindication. Rejuran and all PDRN or PN products of fish origin should not be used. Tell us at consultation. // VEGETARIAN, JAIN OR RELIGIOUSLY OBSERVANT PATIENTS: Rejuran is not suitable if animal-derived products are unacceptable to you. This is not a small consideration in Delhi, and it is not one you should have to discover from a forum. // THE ALTERNATIVE: Profhilo and the hyaluronic acid skin boosters are produced by bacterial bio-fermentation and contain no animal material. For hydration and mild laxity they perform comparably. Benefits of Rejuran
- Genuine tissue repair, not just hydration — PDRN drives fibroblast activity and collagen synthesis. It is a regenerative treatment, not a moisturising one.
- The strongest injectable option for skin texture — rough, uneven, sun-damaged or over-treated skin responds better to PDRN than to any hyaluronic acid booster.
- Meaningful improvement in early atrophic acne scarring — particularly rolling and shallow boxcar scars, and particularly when combined with microneedling or RF microneedling.
- Anti-inflammatory action — useful in skin that is reactive, irritated, or recovering from aggressive treatment. One of the few injectables that calms rather than provokes.
- Excellent for the under-eye area — Rejuran I is purpose-formulated for thin periorbital skin, where fillers often look lumpy and lasers are risky.
- No volume, no shape change — nothing about your face is altered. Only its skin.
- No pigmentation risk in Indian skin — PDRN does not target melanin and creates no thermal injury. In Fitzpatrick IV–V skin this is a real advantage over ablative lasers, where post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is a live risk.
- Repairs skin damaged by previous treatment — this is an underrated indication. Patients who have been over-lasered or over-peeled often improve substantially.

Conditions & Concerns Rejuran Treats
- Rough, uneven skin texture — the primary indication and where Rejuran outperforms every other injectable.
- Fine lines and early wrinkles — particularly the crepey, textural kind rather than muscle-driven expression lines, which need Botox.
- Early atrophic acne scarring — rolling and shallow boxcar scars. Deep ice-pick scars need TCA CROSS or subcision alongside.
- Under-eye crepiness and fine lines — where filler would look lumpy and laser would be risky.

- Skin damaged by pollution or UV — a genuine dermatological factor in Delhi.
- Skin damaged by over-treatment — aggressive lasers, harsh peels, unsupervised steroid creams. Rejuran is one of the few treatments that repairs rather than adds insult.
- Reactive, inflamed or sensitised skin — the anti-inflammatory action is a distinct advantage here.
Rejuran for Under-Eyes (Rejuran I)
The under-eye area is where Rejuran earns its reputation, because the alternatives are all compromised. Hyaluronic acid filler in the tear trough is technically demanding and can look puffy or bluish if placed badly. Ablative lasers on thin periorbital skin carry real pigmentation risk in Indian skin. Rejuran I — a lower-viscosity formulation designed for exactly this region — improves the quality of the skin rather than filling beneath it.
It is the right treatment when the under-eye problem is crepey, thin, finely lined skin. It is the wrong treatment when the problem is a true hollow (which needs volume) or pigment (which needs a pigment treatment). Working out which of the three you actually have is the whole consultation.

Practical note: expect bumps. The skin here is thin, and the small deposits are visible for 24–48 hours, occasionally longer. Bruising is more common here than elsewhere. A cannula reduces both. Do not book this treatment three days before an event.
Rejuran for Acne Scars (Rejuran S)
Rejuran S is a higher-viscosity formulation designed to be placed into individual depressed scars, where it stays put rather than diffusing. It stimulates collagen within the scar, gradually raising the floor of the depression toward the surrounding skin level.
Realistic expectations matter here more than anywhere. Rejuran S meaningfully improves shallow rolling and boxcar scars over three to four sessions. It will not close a deep ice-pick scar — nothing injected will, because an ice-pick scar is a narrow tract extending deep into the dermis and needs TCA CROSS or punch excision. It is at its best as one component of a combination protocol.
A typical scar plan combines Rejuran S with subcision (to release the tethering bands beneath rolling scars), TCA CROSS for ice-picks, and RF microneedling such as Morpheus8 or MNRF to remodel the surrounding dermis. Full detail on our acne scar treatment page.
Before starting any scar protocol, be certain that what you have is a scar and not a mark. Flat dark patches are post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and need pigment treatment, not collagen stimulation. The Procedure: Step by Step
- Skin assessment and variant selection. Tripathi assesses texture, scarring, skin thickness and the specific area of concern, and selects the appropriate variant — Healer, I, S or HB. You will be told which one and why.
- Allergy, dietary and religious history. Taken explicitly, because Rejuran is fish-derived. A fish or shellfish allergy is a contraindication. Vegetarian and Jain patients are offered a bacterial-fermentation alternative without being made to ask.
- Product verification. You may ask to see the sealed PharmaResearch syringe, batch number, packaging and import documentation. We will show you before it is opened.
- Numbing — and this one matters. Topical anaesthetic for at least 30 minutes. Rejuran is more uncomfortable than hyaluronic acid boosters, and skimping on numbing time is a false economy. For the under-eye area, additional care is taken.
- Multiple superficial micro-injections across the treatment area, or targeted deposits into individual scars for Rejuran S. A cannula is often used around the eyes for safety and to reduce bruising. A full face takes 20–30 minutes.
- The bumps. Small raised deposits at every injection point. These are visible, they are supposed to be there, and — unlike Profhilo’s — they take 24 to 48 hours to settle, sometimes longer around the eyes. Nobody should be surprised by this, and yet most patients are.
- The course. Three to four sessions, three to four weeks apart. Results begin appearing between weeks four and eight.
- One or two sessions annually sustain the improvement.
Downtime: The Honest Version
Delhi clinic pages routinely describe Rejuran as having minimal downtime. That is not what our patients experience, and setting the expectation correctly is more useful than setting it optimistically.
- The bumps last 24–48 hours, not a few hours. Every injection point leaves a visible raised deposit. On the face they usually settle within a day; around the eyes, sometimes two to three days. Plan for this.
- It is more uncomfortable than an HA booster. Numbing helps considerably, but the injections sting more and there are more of them. Patients consistently rate it above Profhilo for discomfort.
- Bruising is more common, particularly under the eyes. Usually settles in three to five days. Avoid blood-thinning supplements — fish oil, high-dose vitamin E — for a week beforehand if medically appropriate for you.
- Do not massage the treated area and no makeup for 12 hours.
- No strenuous exercise, sauna, steam or hot yoga for 48 hours.
- SPF 50+ daily. UV degrades the collagen you are paying to build.
- Realistic scheduling: do not book Rejuran within a week of an important event. Book it three months before.

Counterfeits, cold chain and regulatory status
Rejuran is among the most counterfeited aesthetic injectables in Asia. It is also a biological preparation whose activity depends on the DNA polymer arriving intact and having been stored correctly — a broken cold chain degrades the product even when the syringe is genuine. A price substantially below the ranges above should be treated as a warning rather than a saving. Standardised photographs at every visit are not optional. Textural change is gradual enough that memory is an unreliable witness — patients frequently believe nothing has happened until they see week zero next to week ten.

The most common question, and a genuinely useful one, because these two are the leading skin-quality injectables and they do different jobs.

They are not rivals. If your skin is dull and dehydrated with a little laxity, Profhilo is the better tool. If your skin is textured, scarred, damaged or over-treated, Rejuran is stronger. They are frequently combined in a single treatment plan, alternated across sessions. What Rejuran Will Not Do ?
- It will not add volume or change your face. If you want fuller cheeks or a stronger jawline, you need dermal fillers.
- It will not lift sagging skin. For true tissue descent the honest answers are HIFU, thread lift or a facelift.
- It will not treat pigmentation. Dark patches, melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation need a pigmentation treatment, not collagen stimulation.
- It will not close deep ice-pick scars. Those need TCA CROSS or punch excision. Rejuran S helps shallow, depressed scars only.
- It will not work in one session, and it will not work in a week. Three to four sessions; results from week four to eight.
Are You a Good Candidate for Rejuran?
You are likely well-suited if you have:
- Rough or uneven skin texture
- Fine lines of the crepey, textural kind
- Early atrophic acne scarring — rolling or shallow boxcar
- Under-eye crepiness and fine lines (rather than hollows or pigment)
- Skin damaged by pollution, sun, or previous over-aggressive treatment
- Reactive or inflamed skin that other treatments tend to provoke
- Any Fitzpatrick skin type, including IV–V — there is no pigmentation risk
- Tolerance for 24–48 hours of visible bumps, and patience for a result at week six to eight
Rejuran is not for you, or needs a different plan, if you:
- Have a fish or shellfish allergy — this is a firm contraindication, not a caution
- Are vegetarian, Jain, or will not accept an animal-derived injectable — we will offer a bio-fermented alternative

Rejuran is PDRN: it repairs and regenerates, making it stronger for texture, fine lines and acne scarring, but it needs more injections, hurts more, and leaves bumps for a day or two. Profhilo is bacterial-fermented and animal-free; Rejuran is salmon-derived. They are often used together across a treatment plan.
Does Rejuran hurt, and how much downtime is there?
More than most clinics admit. Rejuran involves many superficial micro-injections and is noticeably more uncomfortable than a hyaluronic acid booster, even with proper topical numbing. Every injection point leaves a visible raised bump that takes 24–48 hours to settle — longer around the eyes, where bruising is also more common. It is a genuinely effective treatment with genuinely real downtime. Do not schedule it within a week of an important event.
How many Rejuran sessions will I need?
Three to four sessions spaced three to four weeks apart for a full course. Textural improvement typically begins between weeks four and eight and peaks around months three to six. Acne scar improvement is slower and more gradual than skin-texture improvement. One or two maintenance sessions per year sustain the result.
Can Rejuran remove acne scars?
It improves them; it does not remove them. Rejuran S meaningfully raises shallow rolling and boxcar scars over three to four sessions by stimulating collagen within the scar floor. It will not close deep ice-pick scars, which are narrow tracts extending into the dermis and require TCA CROSS or punch excision. The strongest results come from combining Rejuran with subcision, TCA CROSS and RF microneedling as part of one planned protocol.
Is Rejuran safe for Indian skin?
Yes, and unusually so. PDRN does not target melanin and creates no thermal injury, so there is no meaningful risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in Fitzpatrick IV–V skin. Its anti-inflammatory action makes it one of the few treatments suitable for reactive skin. The relevant safety considerations are fish allergy, product authenticity and cold-chain integrity — not skin tone.
Is Rejuran approved in India?
Rejuran is cleared by the MFDS, South Korea’s regulator. It is not approved by the US FDA for aesthetic injection. Regulatory and import status in India should be verified with current documentation, and any clinic offering it should be able to produce that documentation along with the sealed syringe, batch number and packaging. Rejuran is among the most counterfeited injectables in Asia, and it is a biological preparation that degrades if the cold chain is broken. Ask to see the paperwork.
